Watertown Parks & Recreation provides hands-on, healthy fun for the whole family, it’s a fun bonding & learning experience! Our talented and patient instructor will teach both kids and their parents how to eat healthy while cooking. Our goal is to ensure that the meal and moments that are being created ignite a passion for cooking and having fun in the kitchen. Chefs under 16 must be accompanied by a paying adult. The cost is per person and each must register.

Parents come connect with other parents of young children with special needs while your kids get a chance to play and socialize in a semi-structured environment directed by a License Behavior Analyst.  Playgroup for children ages 1 through 3 with special needs and their siblings provides activities to strengthen fine and gross motor skills, increase communication and encourage socialization and creative play. Please bring your own snack and drink.
 
4:30 PM - 5:00 PM    Little Ninjas Karate - Winter 1
Karate techniques incorporated with essential motor skills for 3&4 year olds. The curriculum includes balance, memory, team work, coordination, focus, and other age specific skills training. Often young children want to do what the big kids do but don’t have the essential motor skills. This class teaches those while building self-esteem and respect for self and others. This class teaches those while building self-esteem and respect for self and others through the art of Cheezic Tang Soo Do.
 
5:00 PM - 5:03 PM    Kickin' Kids Karate - Winter 1 - New Kids Only
New Kids Only - Dynamic karate techniques taught with an emphasis on kicks, punches, blocks, coordination, patterns of movement, and bullying prevention. Situational self-defense will be taught so our youngest can avoid conflict.  This class teaches the components listed while building self-esteem and respect for self and others through the art of Cheezic Tang Soo Do.Students with Belts Only - This class is for students who have attended a belt graduation and have an existing belt.  It is designed to have students develop into the more structured Cheezic Tang Soo Do karate program once they turn 7 years old.

Having a running buddy makes the sport even more enjoyable, so our goal is to have fun and get some exercise together. We welcome all fitness levels, whether you’re an experienced xc athlete looking for off-season training or are putting on running shoes for the very first time. Open to kids in grades 5-8. "Playmaker Camp," a dynamic sports camp focused on skill development, drills, and friendly competition. The camp offers athletes of all levels a chance to enhance their abilities and enjoy the thrill of the game.Participants can expect: Skill Development Stations: Sessions targeting fundamental skills like shooting, passing, dribbling, and defense. Drills Circuit: A circuit featuring agility drills, speed exercises, and team-oriented challenges for a well-rounded workout. Position-Specific Training: Tailored sessions to elevate skills based on individual positions on the field or court. Scrimmage Tournaments: Friendly competitions allowing participants to apply their skills in a supportive environment. Team-building Activities: Engaging exercises to strengthen teamwork and camaraderie among participants. Competitive Challenges: Contests testing shooting accuracy, speed, and agility. The camp concludes with an Awards Ceremony, recognizing outstanding individual and team achievements.

The Watertown Parks and Recreation Department offers a Karate program from 6:15 pm – 7:15 pm. A traditional karate program for ages 7 to adult, the style of Karate we study is Tang Soo Do, a Korean based martial art. In addition to learning techniques, board breaking, forms and exercise patterns, the class focuses on self-esteem, character building, respect for self and others, proper approaches to competition and general life skills for today’s child.  Parents are encouraged to begin training at the same time as their child-great family activity!  Participants should wear loose fitting clothing, such as sweat pants and t-shirts. Participants have to meet requirements of the course to receive certification. At the conclusion of the babysitting classes there will be a course on Pediatric CPR and First Aid.

11:30 AM - 12:30 PM    Ready, Set, Play! - Spring 1
Parents come connect with other parents of young children with special needs while your kids get a chance to play and socialize in a semi-structured environment directed by a License Behavior Analyst.  Playgroup for children ages 1 through 3 with special needs and their siblings provides activities to strengthen fine and gross motor skills, increase communication and encourage socialization and creative play. Please bring your own snack and drink.
 
5:00 PM - 6:00 PM    Middle School Running Training - Winter 1
Having a running buddy makes the sport even more enjoyable, so our goal is to have fun and get some exercise together. We welcome all fitness levels, whether you’re an experienced xc athlete looking for off-season training or are putting on running shoes for the very first time. Open to kids in grades 5-8. Max 20 kids so register early! Instructor: Jessica Creter

Come join JD Farm and their alpaca Little Hope as they talk all things alpaca fleece and make your very own alpaca fleece felted goats milk soap! Yes, there will be an alpaca in attendance! All materials will all be provided. Goats milk soap has a few great added benefits compared to your everyday soap. It’s a Gentle cleanser, Rich in nutrients, and May improve dry skin. The felted alpaca fleece acts as a Natural exfoliant on the skin. Anyone under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
